How do you increase the chances that both you and your baby survive a flood disaster?
Unmet Need —> Emergency Gear for Babies
Flood Disaster
Floods can come suddenly and unexpectedly and some people do not know how to swim. When trying to survive a flood, it would be hard to navigate and survive while carrying around a baby with you, especially when the parent needs as much strength and mobility as they can get to escape the situation.
User Persona: Single Parent of a baby (0-6 months)
middle-aged parent
mainly lives alone with the baby
lives in an area prone to natural disasters, including typhoons and floods
prioritizes the safety of baby over themselves
Scenario Storyboard:
Understanding the User
Significance of Baby Swaddling
Limits the startle reflex
Gentle pressure from swaddling helps contain their extremities
Reduces anxiety
swaddle can somewhat resemble being held, which has a calming effect and helps your baby relax
Testing Function and Size + Incorporating Baby Swaddle-like feature
Securing the baby first, and then yourself with the help of snap-on buckles and easy-to-access side adjustment straps
With U-Me,
I found a way where both parent and baby can survive in an emergency situation, without having to sacrifice one over the other. Together, you work as one.
If we could design something that could save one life, why not design something that could save two, you and me.
